The culture of India encompasses its diverse religions, languages, music, dance, food, architecture, and customs, all of which vary from region to region. The Cultural Club at our school celebrates and preserves this rich heritage.

Members engage in learning music—an integral part of India’s cultural identity—and explore dance, often described as the hidden language of the soul. As one of the top schools in Secunderabad, we are proud to nurture appreciation for our traditional roots while encouraging self-expression through the arts.

The Dramatics Club at AVIS aims to nurture and develop the acting skills of students. The club offers guidance, encouragement, and learning opportunities not only for students but also for teachers.

Emphasizing the motto “Never give up,” the club ensures that every student receives stage exposure and the chance to showcase their talent. As one of the top schools in Secunderabad, AVIS also encourages students to practice self-criticism, helping them reflect on their performances and grow as confident, expressive individuals.

General knowledge is one of the most important compositions of crystallized intelligence. More knowledge makes a person more competent in the tasks of life and also smarter. Psychologists have discovered that knowing more makes a person learn new things and think critically. Wide reading and general knowledge are crucial to competence and the main objective of the G.K club is to make students more competent, which in turn creates a more than just society.

Hence, G.K Club has been striving towards generating and improving confidence among students by making them well aware of their surroundings. Students get to have a smarter way of thinking. It improves the level of creativity and innovation, bringing about the expression of opinions and better decision-making in life. It is an important aspect of human life that includes:

  • Current affairs
  • Fashion Family
  • Physical health and recreation
  • Arts
  • Science

The first and foremost way to improve your general knowledge is by reading. Expansion of erudition occurs through constant reading either books, magazines or newspapers. Socialization is yet another way of amending your general cognizance over sundry issues. This informal and casual way is perhaps one of the best ways to improve your general knowledge over various issues and different areas.

The G.K. Club at AVIS, one of the top schools in Secunderabad, aims to spark students’ interest in learning by conducting fun and informative quizzes. These activities make gaining knowledge enjoyable while promoting curiosity and awareness. Students are encouraged to use the internet meaningfully—to learn, discover, and communicate with others.

Math quiz

A Math Quiz was conducted on 22nd December 2015 as part of the celebration of GANIT (Growing Aptitude in Numerical Innovations and Training). Math quizzes help improve logical and analytical thinking, and the teaching–learning process enables a deeper understanding of scientific concepts and the spirit of inquiry. During the week-long celebration, quiz competitions were held for various classes to reduce the fear of learning mathematics.

On December 18th, a student of Dr. Ramanujan visited the school to conduct a quiz competition and had an engaging interaction with students of Classes 8, 9, and 10, sharing techniques to solve problems more efficiently.

INTACH stands for Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage. It is a nationwide organization dedicated to preserving India’s cultural heritage. Inspired by this initiative, Akshara Vaagdevi International School, one of the top schools in Secunderabad, has launched a similar club at the school level for students.

Although this club does not participate in national-level activities, it plays a vital role in raising awareness among students about the value of our culture and glorious past. The Heritage Club programs are designed by INTACH and include discussions on topics such as Indian history, monuments, and significant cities.

Students are encouraged to research monuments or historical sites and then present their findings to the group. Activities also include creative exercises, such as describing the emotions evoked by a decaying monument. Group tasks are conducted as well, where each group is assigned a region to explore and present on the history and notable monuments of that area.

“Knowledge is power” goes the old German adage. Getting correct information, knowing correct answers for every question and having a good knowledge of the world we live in are some of the aims of the club. Knowledge club will always help the students to find the answers for most of the questions and make them understand the world in a better way.

The Literary Club aims not only to refine the literary skills of students but also to develop their logical thinking and curiosity. It helps them expand their knowledge and instills the confidence to communicate effectively. The club encourages critical thinking, broadens vocabulary, and provides opportunities to present in front of an audience—essential for building self-assurance.

The Literary Club fosters analytical thinking, creativity, and effective communication. It helps students overcome stage fright and builds self-confidence. By encouraging open expression in a group setting, the club also promotes the value of group discussions.

The Literary Club at Akshara Vaagdevi International School, one of the top schools in Secunderabad, is committed to nurturing the speaking skills of every student. Activities include debates, word-building games, group discussions, and more. The club works on eliminating the fear of public speaking, improving pronunciation, and boosting self-confidence. As language is a lifelong learning process, we believe in continually updating and encouraging our students to become confident communicators for the modern world.

The Interact Club aims to develop essential life skills in students and foster successful relationships within society at large. It encourages empathy and a genuine understanding of others’ needs. Through the club, students learn valuable skills such as empathy, interpersonal abilities, and effective communication. After all, no man is an island.

PEAS stands for ‘Environmental Awareness in School’. Our motto is to follow the 3 R’s – Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. All the PEAS Club members have contributed significantly to protecting the environment through simple yet meaningful actions.

The PEAS Club was established with the aim of improving scientific thinking and promoting environmental awareness among students. In the academic year 2013–2014, our club focused mainly on environmental issues, scientific facts, and experiments.

The club has been actively involved in environmental protection. As part of community awareness, our students visited various private organizations and educated them about the harmful effects of Plaster of Paris (POP) idols during Ganesh Chaturthi.

Some key initiatives taken this year include:

  1. Discussions on various environmental issues and conducting related activities.
  2. Raising awareness about the UNEP theme “Raise Your Voice, Not the Sea Level” through seminars, PowerPoint presentations, and poster-making activities, with enthusiastic student participation.
  3. Club assemblies featuring seminars on topics such as endangered species and global warming.
  4. Presentations on rainwater harvesting and water conservation, emphasizing the importance of water in daily life.
  5. Campaigns promoting the use of clay idols during Ganesh Chaturthi and celebrating Diwali in an eco-friendly manner.

Just as little drops of water make a mighty ocean, we believe that even small efforts can make a big difference. We hope our contributions will help make the world a better place to live in.
